It’s my favorite time of year: SUNDANCE! (insert jazz hands here)

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Film, video, documentaries, shorts, have such an impact on my life. It’s a way to educate, expand the mind, evoke and provoke thoughts,  increase awareness and influence, and move mass groups of people.

The Sundance Film Festival is an emotional, creative and intelligent platform for writers, producers, directors, film makers, actors to display and deliver their passions to interested and hungry audiences and potential buyers. It’s about letting the small guy shine and the big guy work, think and create outside the norm.

The festival will be throwing its opening celebration this weekend which will highlight celebrity sightings, lavish dinners, flashy parties, including the well-known “gift giveaway houses” where people just literally hand over $1,000 fur coats, North Face jackets, and skis. And yes, it’s all FOR FREE.

Normally, I would be annoyed with all of the “LA-transplant” hoopla, however, featuring some of the most highly anticipated Mexican and foreign films in years, I really want to make an effort to go. Sundance has a waitlist and a presale (8am each morning) office for folks who just realized that the festival was this weekend and didn’t purchase tickets.

Here is some information on the festival. I hope that some of you will be able to enjoy the fabulous films on  the schedule this year.
