Getting casted just got a little bit easier . . .
I very rarely take time out of my Sunday evening to write about a new company, however, I just had to give mad props to a friend Wil Schroter for creating an awesome website based on the need to expose those talented individuals who don’t have easy access to LA, an agent or loads of money, yet have a laptop.
GotCast is an online casting site that is super simple to use. Basically you create a profile, upload a photo and voila, you can get casted for commercials, movies, reality shows, hosting gigs, and modeling jobs. Once a profile is up on the site, GotCast browsers can submit votes so that applicants can have an opportunity to receive more visibility on the GotCast homepage and more attention from the GotCast judges. Some other cool features on the site include a casting call browse tab, where you can search for different jobs and submit your profile directly to well-known casting agents. Similarly, casting agents can use this site as a resource to browse for that un-discovered talent they are looking for.
Wil, the founder of GotCast, is what you would call a “webtrepreneur.” He has started some really impressive Internet companies in his day and has won a ton of business awards. He’s also a nationally syndicated columnist and a writer for Forbes. As noted on the GotCast site, all Wil ever wanted was to become an actor. He even tried to catch his big break by auditioning for Real World #2 and the lead role in the movie Primal Fear. To no avail, he garnered his energy to create several Internet companies like GotCast.
